We are an educational eco-awareness group that welcomes people seeking to live in harmony with mother earth and learn to connect with their higher selves (Huna philosophy) and live like GLOBAL NATIVE. The philosophy behind this facility is to learn how to develop a new eco-awareness culture for our planet.
We are living on a scenic hillside overlooking the beautiful landscape of Golden Bay , 25min drive from Takaka, 10min walk from the beach, and a WWF recognized reforestation Project. There is also chicken, goats and a cat.
The 21 acre eco property is run by the Bioversity SoNNos charitable trust and is currently being managed by Joe and Ursus (Ursus is the founder and long-term caretaker of the trust). He has been working on various eco-village projects around the world, mainly in Switzerland and New Zealand. See www.global-native.org for more information.
Current activities include, learning how to do permaculture, eco- building with recycled materials, planting a food forest, vegetable and herb gardens and other creative projects. The daily rhythm of living together with people, cooking and baking on wood fire etc. is as well an interesting task with a lot to learn.
Because of this learning situation, our charitable Trust facility operates on donations. This is a place is about to making new experience and learning. Therefore we ask volunteers to contribute towards meals. Special exceptions may be made with the caretaker as to contributing to this (i.e. giving extra work). For experienced and suitable long term volunteers we may offer alternative arrangement.
We wish to maintain a family atmosphere and so we ask volunteers to stay for at least a few weeks. This may be extended at the discretion of the caretaker.
We are also drug, alcohol- and smoke-free. This is to enable us to live healthy and focus on our spiritual growth.
